AWFUL GENIUS Kids Sweatshirt (Heather Pink)
Awful Genius sweatshirts have been designed by artist collective KMAdotcom. Leanne Ross has developed a technique of painting words as ‘Shout Outs’ describing specific moments in time remembered from daily routine. Over the years Leanne has developed a process employing sections of coloured paper glued onto white paper with overlaid text painted using black ink or acrylic paint. Proclaiming phrases such as ‘Move to the Future’, ‘Ikea Hot Dog’ and ‘New Hoose’ these are passionate declarations that combine the sense of protest with the universal joy of what it is to shout something out loud. Conversation in the studio among the artists one day led to the creation of the ‘Awful Genius’ catchphrase, screenprinted onto these limited edition sweatshirts. If the coloured paper, paint and plain paper is nearby then that's it. Shout outs a go go!
Please note: These garments are one-off screenprinted items, so colours may slightly vary from the image, and some colour substutitions may be necessary.
These sweatshirts are screenprinted in Scotland using organic and ethically sourced materials. Stanley/Stella uses 100% organic cotton and are an active member of the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF), a Dutch independent organization aiming at improving workers conditions of labour in the garment industry worldwide.
